The temperature in the dance hall was very high as soon as the dance floor was full. I personally didn't like the music very much especially on Sunday party between 3-5am.

I loved the music and the vibes the DJs created and all the effort put into it. The big minus for me was the very sticky floors. My knees still hurt. Both the night party and the pool party had very bad floor and also veeery extremely crowded.

Good things:
Friendly and supportive stuff; clear and easy instructions what is going on - where, what and when; have no problem bringing own water and backpack to venue - big plus, very cool live music support with congos, bells etc (makes music alive), cool daily socials.

Bad things:
Sadly - overall music selection, with too fast and some old/hardcore mambo tunes. There was so little, if any salsa romantica songs during some evenings or any other slower paced songs. Some songs can hardly be called "danceble" in terms of social dancing, rather than performance orientated. (Might be my own taste of course) Played music got often jammed, ruining dancing experience. There should not be such problems on such level of event. Second problem is bad condition of dancing floor. Floor gets easily sticky. In addition, people were spilling drinks and water on perimeter of venue, making things even more messy. Sticky floor is partly due to bad air circulation, partly to too fast music all the time making ppl sweat instantly. Moisture level was very high, there was water dropping (condensation) from the celing onto the floor. During socials there was too many cameramen filming/taking photos, oftenly occupying too much dancing space for filming only one couple.

Overall what made event good are the dancers and friends we all meet at place. We had very good level ppl and many pro dancers. It's basicly always a joy to dance with a good level dancer to any music - fast or slow. But beginner level dancers were rly struggling with event's fast music and sticky floor.

Summing up - Venue could be improved in terms of air circulation and music be focused more on social dancing aspect taking beginner level dancers into consideration too.

Good luck guys!

Overall, lots of fun, the whatsapp info group was very good. However many things could be done better, please accept the following constructive criticism.

1. Advising people to take train as the best transport - this was wrong, i spent 3 hours 15mins via train. others routinely spent up to 2.5hrs, the difference was due to train delays/wait times. This is way too long for a journey and i arrived shattered and did not dance the first night and just slept i was so tired. Sharing taxis was the best route and this was not advised by the organisers. The whatsapp group to share rides was however a good idea.

2. Pool party was the best part. However the enjoyment was reduced because there was not enough space upstairs and the downstairs area just did not have the same atmosphere and parts of it had a sloping floor. I wanted to be upstairs but upstairs was too crowded. For enjoyment, numbers need to be way lower for that hotel size pool area.

3. The Don Angel hotel security were like prison security guards. I have never been to a festival where you can't invite friends to your hotel room for drinks or to relax a bit. This was not possible at the hotel as they wanted a wristband from all people to access the hotel. This is not acceptable to me, I didn't come on holiday to be treated like a prison - this is probably the most important reason why I wouldn't come back to Don Angel hotel and therefore the festival as I want to stay in the main venue, not another hotel.

4. DJs at the beginning of nights were playing way too fast music, it was not easily danceable and this feedback I received from many people at the festival. I don't know who these DJs were the first hours of each night, especially Friday night but between 1-3pm the DJs were playing way too fast music. Also I thought it was going to be old school salsa, it was a lot of salsa dura, which is from 90s onwards. I want more the 60s and 70s. the classic fania records and their peers. The DJ rotating every 2 songs was also a bad idea i thought, the DJs told me they found it difficult continuing on from the previous songs and they couldn't relax. I appreciate this stops the DJs from just pressing "play" on repeat playlist, but if a DJ does that but you should enforce that from the beginning that they can't do this and if they do it, they won't be invited back. At least provide the DJs with a 30-45mins slot to play their sets. Also i didn't like this because I don't know which DJ is playing and therefore I can't decide which DJ it is I like to give any feedback.

5. Food - the salads and fruits at the Don Angel hotel were good quality. The food was however tasteless, the chicken one day was inedible. The fish was non marinated and tasteless though it seemed good quality. I appreciate this was a 3 star hotel, so not a major issue. I actually ate out two nights so I'm not too bothered about the food, the other points are more important.

6. Aircon in the venue was good, certainly much better than a lot of salsa event, just would be good to increase it's power after few hours when it becomes too hot.

Overall, generally I don't go to really busy festivals and the numbers for the venue (especially the pool party) were too high.

Thank you an hope this feedback helps
Kind regards,
Seyed Nazemi
