IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO TO THIS EVENT, I WOULD! This was the WORST BACHATA EVENT I attended. The WORST ORGANISATION I've seen, and the organiser of the event Hicham is an ignominious, unprincipled, unscrupulous, and villainous human being. I was shocked by his behaviours and his "staff's" attitude. They were extremely rude, unprofessional, and worst of all, they are literal thieves. I will never go to again to this festival. It's a truly a shame because Marrakech is a lovely city, and the professional dancers who gave workshops at this festival were all very good, but the organisation was terrible. It's the first time I ever left a negative comment online, I don't like spending my time talking about negative things, but I had to spend some time writing this review because people need to be warned about this awful organisation and its vile team leader: Hicham. Last week, I went to another festival sponsored by Bailamos (Bailamos sponsors this festival in Marrakech, but it also sponsors other international events) : Adam Amsterdam Bachata Festival, and it was AWESOME! I highly recommend Adam Amsterdam Bachata Festival, the people in charge of organising this event did a great job, and the staff members were excellent, efficient, and very friendly.

The organization was terrible:

Workshops were canceled or rescheduled without anyone notifying us, and some teachers taught in French. Salsa and Kizomba were hardly danced at all; there were a maximum of 15 people on each dance floor. The dance floor in the Bachata room was made of wooden boards that had been cheaply screwed together, which developed cracks and holes in the floor over the course of the evening that people got stuck on.

We had booked the hot air balloon ride through the festival, which was supposed to start at 5:30 a.m., but instead we received a call at 4:45 a.m. saying we were 15 minutes late; if other guests hadn't happened to talk to the driver, we would have missed the ride.

On Sunday, the hotel demanded a passport to enter the premises, despite us having a VIP full-pass wristband. We had to wait outside on the street for almost an hour before we were allowed in. People who arrived after us had the same experience. Despite our request, the organizer did not point out that you had to bring a passport. Btw, the hotel confiscated the ID you gave them and held on to it until you left the premises.

You had to bring your own water, but at least you were allowed to take your bags inside.

Un festival Sbk qui n’en n’est tout simplement pas un.
Je pense que le terme approprié aurait été : séjour sur fond de bachata avec option condescendance et « m’as tu vu » avec des soirées où la musique est trop forte voire crie dans les oreilles, et où les autres danses sont quasi inexistantes. Si vous comptiez vous améliorer dans les autres danses, ceci n’est pas le bon endroit. La salle salsa ressemblait à un PMU de quartier qui faisait fuir toute personne tenant à son audition. La salle kizomba na pas attirée non plus la foule. Elles ont juste fait acte de présence.

D’autre part, Je ne savais qu’il était possible de réunir autant de personnes qui se pavanent en string et chemise ouverte autour de la piscine lors de « pool party », qui d’ailleurs ressemble plus à un après midi club med chip des années 90.
Le soir, on continue avec des soirées qui commencent 2h après l’heure annoncée et où l’esprit du partage de la danse est absent. D’ailleurs, cela ne m’a pas encouragée à participer à la dernière soirée dans un bar extérieur. Je note toutefois le niveau élevé en bachata mais qui est gâché par l’auto congratulation et le paraître, et ce, même au sein de l’organisation alors qu’il n’y a pas de quoi. Une attente d’1h45 au Check in et des erreurs quant à l’attribution de la chambre. Tout cela ne serait pas arrivé sans la personne qui est sensée organiser, mais elle s’est avérée ne pas être digne de ce rôle. L’hypocrisie et l’argent sont ses valeurs, mais il n’aime pas la danse 💃 car il saurait que ce sont des passionnés qui viennent pour l’amour de la danse… mais pas pour s’exhiber.
Toutefois, je note la qualité du show du samedi soir (que j’ai vu sur un écran de téléphone tant le son était trop fort pour mes oreilles chastes), ainsi que les chambres qui sont confortables.

En conclusion, un événement qui se dit festival mais qui n’a pas l’envergure d’attirer et de fidéliser toutes les nationalités ni les danseurs marocains d’ailleurs. On attire ce que l’on est, et cher Bailamos, vous avez réussi à faire fuir les quelques belles personnes que j’ai pu rencontrer malgré tout.
