On Sunday, September 20, we open the season with a new workshop and a new theme: Burlesque, 1920s style. It's 100 years since the most progressive and innovative decade of the last century and we want to celebrate it before the end of this "strange" 2020 in the best way we know how, DANCING!
What are we going to learn in the next Burlesque Workshop 1920s style? This new choreography is inspired by the joy and creativity of the golden decade and has at its core one of the most fun and innovative dances in history: the Charleston. Extravagant like few others, this variety of foxtrot represents better than any other the feeling of those times, a feeling that was captured so well by F. Scott Fitzgerald in his novel The Great Gatsby (1925), taken to the cinema several times. Surely you have heard of the Charleston, you may even have danced to it once?
We are going to work the maximum expression of our joy and enthusiasm, we are going to fill ourselves with positivity and we are going to take strength with our dance after these hard months.
You don't need to have any previous experience in Burlesque or dance to attend this workshop. All women of all ages and sizes are welcome. The only requirement is to want to enjoy and spend a different and fun morning.
What do you need to bring? Leggins, flat shoes (no rubber soles) or ballroom dancing shoes (low heels preferred), comfortable clothing that looks good and gives you freedom of movement. And for the more daring ones, or those who really want to immerse themselves in the experience of the crazy 1920s, it would be great to wear a typical dress of the time: dresses with bangs, feathers in the hair, long beaded necklaces... everything is allowed and any kind of invention is welcome.
