Musicality Summer Dance Week 2026

Great teachers! I love the approach that you start with the basics and the workshops continue every day to build something up. Not just another choreography. It was also good to have two levels of musicality.

The event is absolutely amazing. We recommend it to everyone, who wants to put his dancing skills to a higher level.

Hi Anna and Anichi,

this was my first salsa festival and I'm pretty new to the world of salsa dance. It was a great experience and I loved all of the input. The concepts of musicality were summarised so perfectly, the live playing and adjusting of the instruments was incredible, and a lot of concepts finally got explained properly and made 100% sense (for example, hard and soft mambo is so clear now).

Anna, your body movement and spinning classes gave me so much valuable input and a perfect training guideline. I now have a clear vision of what I need to work on and how to approach my personal training in front of a mirror to improve my body control. Big thanks for that.

One thing I want to reflect back concerns some of Anichi's comments and jokes. This isn't about intention. I have zero doubt they come from a good place, and I find you incredibly likeable as a person. I also make far worse jokes with close friends, so I'm not coming at this from judgement.

The difference for me is closeness. A joke that lands as playful between two people who know each other well can read very differently to a room of near strangers. On stage you can't control how everyone interprets it, and for some a joke that brushes against sexist or racist territory can quietly confirm something they already believe.

A concrete example: adjusting the microphone clipped to an artist's lower back, then looking at the crowd and winking. Between the two of you I'm sure that's harmless, and the artist probably enjoys the little comic release before the class continues. But the microphone itself is beside the point, it's the objectification underneath the joke that matters. Someone watching without that closeness and context might take away that treating people this way is fine, even with someone they barely know.

One more small suggestion would be to lean on neutral terms like leader and follower consistently. That said, you genuinely do create a safe space, and the community was overwhelmingly open-minded and thoughtful.

Sorry for the long message. I really loved the festival and the jokes honestly weren't a big deal, but they did pull me out of my good mood a few times. I wish you all the best and I will definitely try to come again next year. I'm really looking forward to learning more and enjoying the beautiful atmosphere you create.

P.S. For me, a beautiful example of the mood you create is the "failed" afterparty on Friday. It was so much fun, and even though the location was nowhere near what we all expected, everybody just wanted to dance, move, and connect. We made that evening beautiful, and it's such a nice memory of the energy we salseros y salseras can bring even in the most godforsaken place.
