Antalya Sensual Dance Festival 2025
Most of the classes were absolutely great. Nice to see some many amazing local artists.
Some classes happened in Turkish but when the teachers realized there were some foreigners they tried their absolute best to translate important information to English.
Kerem & Sude - the only Turkish teachers who were straight up rude. One of the students asked if they can speak English. Kerem kept on talking in Turkish, he asked (in Turkish) who speaks Turkish, maybe 75% of the class raised their hands. He didn't acknowledge this student anymore, he didn't say one word. We (group of random foreigners in class) thought it was extremely rude. If Kerem & Sude had difficulties with English, they could have said sorry, they can't speak English, not blatantly ignore. Despite the festival being international, my issue isn'y with them not knowing English. My issue is with them being rude.
Salsa&bachata mixed room was an absolute mood killer. This is a SENSUAL dance festival, so the audience was primarily focused on bachata. Whenever salsa songs played, the room completely emptied. That should have said something. Many people were complaining about this. This is the main reason why I wouldn't go to this festival again.
Organisational issues: why was the time for socials/shows/pool party announced LITERALLY 1 minute before it's happening on whatsapp group. Such things should be in the schedule. There was no info where to find the halls. There was no info at all how arrival/reception works. There was no levels assigned to any classes which means overall level across the classes stayed low.
Overall, I enjoyed it, just tried to chill and go with the flow. The festival was fine. Last year a massive group from my city came to the festival, this year there was ONE (me) and I completely understand why one wouldn't return
