Bucharest Salsa Revolution 2026
Venue: 3/5 Not bad, but the elongated shape makes it hard to build energy and keep it high.
Floor: 2/5 Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Either too sticky or absolutely slippery. And being marble it's very harsh on feet. The only reason this isn't a 1/5 is that it doesn't have splinters or sharp points.
Sound: 4/5 Sound engineers did a very good job but there was a dead spot right at the bar, which again makes it hard to maintain energy.
DJs: 3/5 I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I think Mikael and Romy didn't pull their weight. I didn't like their sets and neither did a lot of people I talked to. Friday night and Sunday afternoon were particularly bad. I think they tried a bit too hard to play 'interesting' and rare music. It's a bad sign when my dance partner has to ask me where the '1' is. The best set of the weekend was Dmitri and Tuli's back to back on Saturday. They're always consistent and so is Julian. I like the mix of old and new that Patrick and Anael bring (still very danceable!)
Atmosphere: 5/5 Romanians are such party animals and the organisers went out of their way to make sure everyone is happy. It's always a good sign when the main organiser herself is dancing on the floor!
